Cory Watson’s attorney Andy Jones has been appointed to the Plaintiffs Steering Committee (PSC) for In Re: Paragard IUD Products Liability Litigation. the multi-district litigation with serious complications related to the Paragard IUD.

Mr. Jones is one of 17 attorneys appointed by US District Judge Leigh Martin May. The PSC will continue to study and develop the Paragard IUD damage claims. The committee also oversees the coordination, preparation and presentation of the cases.

The U.S. Multi-District Litigation Board established MDL 2974 in December 2020 and consolidated cases with Paragard in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. More than 100 cases have been forwarded to the federal MDL, with hundreds more to be filed against the manufacturer of Paragard.

Paragard was approved by the FDA as a non-hormonal contraceptive in the 1980s. However, since approval, the FDA has received thousands of reports from women and their health care providers that Paragard devices break when removed. This can result in fragments of the Paragard device becoming embedded in a patient and often requiring surgical removal.
