Maricopa County Attorney Allister Adel still recovering from brain injury, department work continuing

“She continues to respond well to treatment and is attentive and communicating with her family and medical team.”

PHOENIX – Editor’s Note: Maricopa County attorney Allister Adel said in a statement Dec. 4 that she is still recovering at the Barrow Neurological Institute and looks forward to returning home in the coming weeks. She said she was working with a medical team to “ensure a safe and complete recovery”.

Maricopa County attorney Allister Adel continued to recover from a cerebral hemorrhage on Nov. 3, and several people made statements on Thursday regarding their condition and status of the law firm.

Adel was hospitalized with bleeding in her brain on election night after falling at home and hitting her head.

The Maricopa Public Prosecutor’s Office made the following statement on behalf of the noble family and doctors:

We are grateful for the support during this time and the privacy that was granted to our family. We appreciate the continued patience of the community in recovering Allister from the operation and we would like to thank the doctors and staff at the Barrow Neurological Institute for the superior care they currently offer. We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday.

Dr. Michael Lawton, the President and CEO of the Barrow Neurological Institute, is Adel’s attending physician and made the following statement:

Allister Adel was transferred to the Barrow Neurological Institute on November 5th. She was being treated for a cerebral haemorrhage that appeared between the brain and the inner lining of the skull, putting pressure on the brain. The blood clot was surgically removed and the pressure on her brain was relieved. She continues to respond well to treatment and is attentive and communicating with her family and medical team. Barrow’s medical team will provide Ms. Adel with world-class neurological care so that, as with all of our patients, she can achieve the best possible recovery. Out of respect for the family’s wishes, Barrow will not comment further at this time.

The Maricopa Prosecutor also shared their testimony about Adel:

While District Attorney Adel recovers, Vice Chairman Ken Vick and Chief of Staff Candice Copple oversee the day-to-day operations of the Maricopa District Attorney’s Office. Out of respect for the family’s wishes, the Maricopa County Law Office will not make any further comments at this time.
