Courageous 5-Year-Old Maddie Fell’s Poise in Her Fight Against Cancer Inspires San Diego Attorney Gordon Levinson to Give Grant for Cancer Research

SAN DIEGO, May 6, 2021 / PRNewswire / – When I found out that Maddie, the lawyer’s daughter Gordon Levinson Friend and colleague lawyer Bibi FellGordon suffered from a rare form of liver cancer and was part of the girl’s treatment journey. The recently awarded grant aims to improve the ability of doctors to treat a rare form of childhood liver cancer.

Doctors diagnosed Maddie Fell with high-risk hepatoblastoma (stage 4) before she was five.

Just before her fifth birthday, doctors diagnosed Maddie with high-risk hepatoblastoma (stage 4). Hepatoblastoma is a rare form of childhood liver cancer that affects only 1 in 1.5 million children. Initially, Maddie was treated at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego. However, after Maddie’s family learned about the unique and novel therapy at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, she postponed her care.

Under the care of Dr. James Geller At the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, Maddie has a total of 11 rounds of chemotherapy and liver resection. She did nine rounds of chemotherapy and did well in the fight against cancer. Maddie’s family writes to Dr. Geller and his novel treatment techniques to save Maddie’s life.

Gordon Levinson authorized a $ 5,000 The Max and Anna Levinson Foundation Scholarship is awarded to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center on Maddie’s behalf. According to Levinson, “childhood cancer research is severely underfunded and there is so much we do not know about hepatoblastoma that could save the lives of children diagnosed with this disease.”
