Attorney: NFL hasn’t interviewed Deshaun Watson
The NFL is conducting its own investigation into the sexual assault allegations made against Deshaun Watson, but the Houston Texans star has yet to get his side of the story to league officials.
Rusty Hardin, Watson’s attorney, told KPPRC 2 in Houston this week that Watson was interviewed by someone in the NFL. He also said there is no talk of possible settlement with any of the 22 women who have filed civil suits against Watson.
The attorney, who represents all alleged victims, recently said he and his team are preparing for the cases to be heard in front of a jury. Hardin said the testimony should begin in September, but no specific date was given. That would be just before or after the start of the 2021 NFL season.
Many believe Watson will either be suspended from the NFL or put on the commissioner’s list of exceptions. The league probably wants to come to a decision before the start of the season, even if the lawsuits against Watson have the potential to drag on into next year.
Watson notified Texans earlier this off-season that he would like to be traded and he reportedly has a specific goal in mind.
