Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard are honored to establish the Elizabeth Olszewski Memorial Scholarship at UIC’s John Marshall Law School. The fund was set up in memory of Elizabeth R. Olszewski, a lawyer who passed away in February 2020 and a 2012 Law School graduate.
The fund awards scholarships to UIC law students who make up the top 10 percent of the applicant pool, with preference for Wisconsin students. Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard established the fund in 2021 to recognize Elizabeth’s legacy and passion for the legal practice.
“Elizabeth was an excellent student, and her hard work in law school resulted in a legal career that enabled her to become a very accomplished attorney in a short space of time,” said Tara R. Devine, managing partner of Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard’s Lake County office said. “Elizabeth was at the top of her class and very proud of her accomplishments in law school and in Wisconsin. This scholarship recognizes and represents Elizabeth’s best qualities: her hard work and her heart. “
Since childhood in Union Grove, Wisconsin, Elizabeth knew she wanted to be a lawyer. A student at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, she set her sights on law school and received a BA cum laude in political science with a focus on law and criminal law in 2008. She then took up a position as a personal injury assistant with a law firm in Racine, Wisconsin, where she continued her tenure as a law student at John Marshall Law School in Chicago. As a member of the Law Review, she graduated magna cum laude.
In 2013, Elizabeth joined Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard as a personal injury attorney. During her seven years with the firm, Elizabeth made a profound impact on her colleagues, clients, and countless others she met in and out of the courtroom. In recognition of her outstanding legal work, Elizabeth was recognized as a Rising Star by Illinois Super Lawyers and an Emerging Lawyer by Law Bulletin Media. This is an award for the top 2% of Illinois lawyers who are under 40 years of age or have practiced 10 years or less.
When she wasn’t tirelessly working out a case for one of her clients, Elizabeth volunteered to join the Waukegan 2 College program, a nonprofit that focuses on helping students with limited skills manage the college application process other than language skills or financial barriers. Elizabeth has also served in several professional associations, giving regular presentations and speeches to legal groups about her litigation experience at Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard.
UIC Law is the 16th college at the University of Illinois at Chicago – Chicago’s largest university and the only Carnegie Research 1 public institution. UIC Law is located in the heart of the city’s legal, financial, and business districts and is recognized as one of the most diverse law schools in the country. It is leading the way in providing access to underrepresented students.
