M&S Attorney Mike Bersani Named “Lawyer of the Year” for His Representation of Victims of Professional Malpractice in the Syracuse Metropolitan Area

Hello blog readers! This is Dave Kalabanka, Mike Bersani’s partner. I hijacked his blog for today to interview Mike about another major award he just got: Mike was named Attorney of the Year 2022 for the Greater Syracuse Area for Professional Defects for his outstanding representation of victims of legal or other professional errors. A publication titled “Best Lawyers in America” awards this award to the attorney with the highest overall positive peer feedback (judges and other attorneys rate him higher than any other attorney) for a particular subject area and geographic region. Yes, Mike was the senior lawyer representing victims of legal and other professional error for the entire greater Syracuse area.

This new honor follows Mike’s appointment as Attorney of the Year 2021 for the Syracuse metropolitan area in the field of representation Personal Injury Prosecutor.

Considering its second year in a row “Best Lawyer” Naming, I decided to take some time from Mike’s busy schedule to interview him:

DAVE: Mike, first of all, congratulations! It seems like you just can’t stop taking these home with you “Best Lawyer” Awards. What’s your secret recipe?

MIKE: Thanks Dave. No secret recipe. Just work hard and take care of my customers.

DAVE: But the award is based on “peer review” which means that you have been rated higher than any other lawyer by other lawyers and judges when it comes to representing victims of professional error in the Syracuse region. Who are these fans of yours?

MIKE: Good question. Since the “votes” are secret, I really don’t know. But it has to be lawyers and judges who know my job. That would be defense attorneys who took action against me and judges who I have appeared before.

DAVE: Well, of course I have never competed against you, but I have seen your work and it is of course excellent. You and Lee Michaels are a great bug team.

MIKE: Well, I agree with that. Lee has handled legal error cases for decades. Together we have achieved some significant victories, particularly at the vocational level. Some of our appeal wins now serve as blueprints for attorneys trying to prove errors of law. We gave them a roadmap.

DAVE: Mike, this is not your first “Best Lawyer” forgive. Last year it was about personal injuries to the plaintiffs. This year because of professional errors. What’s next year for you?

MIKE: Geez, I really doubt I’ll win another “Best Lawyer” forgive. Two is a great honor. And I don’t know what other categories I could win. We do almost nothing except personal injury and professional errors.

DAVE: Well, I’m counting on you to do a “hat trick” Mike. Three years in a row would be great. Let’s see what happens next year. . . .

MIKE: Well, I would certainly not mind! But as you know Dave, none of these awards are mine alone. Our small company works in a team or as a well-oiled machine. None of my written work goes out the door without you and the others reviewing and improving it. It’s great when people see how great our product is. But even if they don’t, who cares? Doing our best to represent our customers is its own reward.

DAVE: Well, congratulations again, Mike. It is a privilege to be your partner and friend.

MIKE: You too, Dave. We have had many good years together with our team. I look forward to many more.
