Coleman Resigning As U.S. Attorney Due To Injury

Russell Coleman, the United States attorney for the western district of Kentucky, filed his resignation letter effective next week.

Coleman said his resignation will take effect Wednesday January 20 as he has to quit his dream job with a spine injury. He added that serving as the federal law enforcement officer in the place he loves has been a humbling honor with the people he has known all his life.

Coleman said he had traveled to each of the district’s 53 wards to find ways to be a more responsive partner for business and community leaders, Commonwealth attorneys, sheriffs, and police departments of all sizes.

While serving as a US attorney, his office first opened a bowling green office and increased the staff in the Paducah office.

Coleman added that he was forever grateful to those who protect the region and who have not received adequate praise for their work.
